Cut beef into 1 squares. In a large skillet, brown beef in olive oil.

Meanwhile, slice carrots, chop onion, peel and cube potatoes. Put meat in pot. Mix flour, salt and pepper, pour over meat. Stir to coat meat with flour.

Chop or crush garlic cloves.

Add remaining ingredients and stir to mix well. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours or high for 6 hours. Stir thoroughly before serving - and remember to remove that bay leaf!
